1.Fleet Footed. Unlocked at level 10. Increases movement speed by 10%. Not a bad passive skill to pick up early as moving faster increases your leveling speed as it allows you to move through the game faster. While the bonus is always good, it becomes relatively obsolete once you unlock the Quicksilver rune for Dashing Strike as then you can use Dashing Strike repeatedly to move from enemy to enemy.

2.Resolve. Unlocked at level 10. Damage you deal reduces enemy damage by 25% for 2.5 seconds. An incredible ability, especially versus bosses. You should always use this in group situations as reducing a boss’s damage by 25% is just an incredibly powerful buff.

3.The Guardian’s Path. Unlocked at level 13. When dual-wielding,you gain 15% chance to dodge. When using a two-handed weapon, Spirit Generation is increased by 25%. Nice defensive bonus for defensive-oriented Monks.Could potentially be useful for a Spirit generation build as well,but that is definitely a specialty role for the Monk.

4.Transcendence. Unlocked at level 16. Every point of Spirit spent heals you for a certain amount of life. This passive skill is decent while leveling up,but it seems to scale on level rather than on health,dexterity,or weapon damage. This makes this skill obsolete once you get good equipment.

5.Chant of Resonance. Unlocked at level 20. Increases the duration of all of your mantras by 7 minutes. While a Mantra is active, you gain 2 Spirit every 2 seconds. This is the only ability in game which grants you Spirit over time and allows you to regenerate Spirit.Useful for specialty Spirit builds.

6.Seize the Initiative.Unlocked at level 20.Your armor is increased by 100% of your Dexterity.Perhaps useful if you are using a Shield;most Monks will get more mitigation out of The Guardian’s Path, Near Death Experience, and Sixth Sense.

7.Exalted Soul. Unlocked at level 24.Increases maximum Spirit by 100. Perhaps useful in PvP for unleashing certain combos, but I would rather have the passive buffs offered by other D3 Monk passive skills for the majority of situations.

8.Sixth Sense. Unlocked at level 27.Increases your dodge chance by 30% of your critical hit rate.You need a lot of Critical Hit for this skill to be worth it,but it could potentially be useful once you reach a very high level and have a lot of critical hit rate.

9.Pacifism.Unlocked at level 30.While you are under a Stun,Fear,or Charm effect,all damage taken is reduced by 75%. This is primarily a PvP skill although it may come in handy should you run into a boss or Champion pack that uses a lot of fear effects.

10.Beacon of Ytar.Unlocked at level 35.Reduces all cooldowns by 15%.Useful in team PvP situations where you are making heavy use of defensive cooldowns like Breath of Heaven, Serenity,Inner Sanctuary, and Blinding Flash.

11.Guiding Light.Unlocked at level 40.Whenever you use a direct heal skill on another player,you and the other player deal 16% more damage for 15 seconds.Great skill,but requires you to use Breath of Heaven on a friendly player,meaning it only works in group games.

12.One With Everything.Unlocked at level 45. Your resistance to all elements is equal to your highest elemental resistance. Good for resist sets for Inferno mode. You can max out 1 resist with this talent and have max resistances.

13.Combination Strike. Unlocked at level 50. Each different Spirit Generator ability you use increases your damage by 8% for 3 seconds. A must-have ability in my book for offensive Monks as it allows you to deal up to 24% extra damage, particularly against single targets where stacking Spirit Generators is an optimal skill.

14.Near Death Experience. Unlocked at level 58. Great ability to have in solo games, PvP, or Hardcore modes. Useful as well in Inferno mode for groups if you are dying a lot. For the occasional death, someone in your party can always resurrect you so you can pick group-friendly buffs.
